…On February 4th, 1924, the first Winter Olympic Games were held in Chamonix, France, in 1924. The games, originally called the “International Sports Week of Chamonix,” eventually became known as the first Winter Olympics.

…Bishop’s Council Officers to be Elected Next Week. The officers of the BC are appointed/elected at the first meeting after the Annual Meeting. Stay tuned to find out who will be appointed Sr. Warden and Treasurer as well as elected Jr. Warden and Clerk. 

…Servant Leadership is Christian Leadership. Perhaps you’ve heard of “Servant Leadership”. It prioritizes the needs of others first before the needs of the leader. It’s not just a fad, either! In Mark 10:45 Jesus says, “For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others.” Jesus example means that all Christian leadership (as defined as leadership under Jesus’ teachings and example) IS servant leadership. In Christian terms, true Godly leadership is to look to put others first. Not me first. Not us first. 

…Pay a Compliment Day (February 6th):  Pay a Compliment Day encourages people to spread positivity by giving genuine compliments. This simple act can brighten someone’s day and foster a sense of appreciation and kindness. This day highlights the power of kind words and how they can create a ripple effect of happiness and goodwill in our communities​. In a world where negativity often dominates, Pay a Compliment Day encourages us to focus on the positive and appreciate those around us. It’s a simple yet powerful way to make the world a little brighter, one compliment at a time.

Important Announcements & News…
 

‘Shrove Sunday’ Pancake Coffee Hour: Sunday, February 15th: After the service, we will have an early celebration of Shrove Tuesday with the traditional feast of pancakes. Known variously as Shrove (absolution) Tuesday, Mardi Gras (Fat Tuesday), or Carnival (farewell to meat), it was a last chance for a feast of rich and sweet foods before Lent began. Contact Lisa or Steve Andrew with questions. 

Walking the Way of the Resurrection: During Lent, Fr. Pete will be teaching a class on The Resurrection. The class will meet in the Sanctuary immediately following the 10:30 am service starting on Sunday, February 8th, and ending on Sunday, March 22nd.

Ash Wednesday Services & Events – Wednesday, February 18th:

  • Ash Wednesday (1st Service) – 1:00 pm
  • Ashes to Go at Companion Cove – 2:30 pm
  • Ashes to Go at Companion Cove – 5:30 pm
  • Ash Wednesday (2nd Service) – 7:00 pm
Coffee Hour Hosts Needed January to March: We are looking for 3-5 more people to participate in the rotation to host coffee hour. For January to March, less than 1/2 the spots are filled. If you would like to be added to the sign-up list for hosting coffee hour, please notify Fr.
