Fr. Pete Van Zanten is retiring. Retirement party this Sunday, Sep. 26th in Hoodsport. Fr. Pete is a former Vicar of St. Christopher’s (18 year tenure!) and current Vicar of St. Germain’s in Hoodsport (10 year tenure!). St. Germain’s is hosting a celebratory 10:30am service this Sunday followed by an open house from noon-2pm in honor of Fr. Pete. A light lunch and cake will be served. Have an Announcement You Would like to Share? If you have announcement that you would like us to share in the Sunday Bulletin, the Beacon Newsletter, and on the church App about an upcoming event, group meeting, etc., you can submit it using this form. Volunteers Needed: With the opening up of in-person worship, the increase in Delta variant, the large number of weddings & memorials, St. Christopher’s has been very busy, but volunteerism has been low. Below are a list of volunteer opportunities. Contact Fr James or Jodi to find out how you be a part of the team.

Greeters Needed: Greeters are needed to assist with in-person worship in September and beyond. If you would like to be a greeter, please contact Pat Kelley via phone 360.359.6973 or by email patkelley444@gmail.com.
Remember to Self-Screen: On August 1st, St. Christopher’s resumed 8:00 AM worship, and increased capacity to 75%. We are to asking all parishioners to self-screen for Covid symptoms using the self-screening form prior to the service, and ask that if you are feeling ill that you stay home. Masking and social distancing will continue, and parishioners will be asked to sign-in when arriving at the church. Additional information can be found on the St. Christopher’s website.
UPDATE! Fundraising for St Christopher’s Playground and Gazebo: The Bishop’s Council has approved a fundraising campaign to replace the rotting wooden playground retaining walls with stone, make some upgrades to the playground, and (funds permitting) install a large gazebo for outdoor small groups and classes. One possible place for the gazebo is near the central light post in the parking lot. Outdoor heating is also on the wish list for our gazebo and a swing set on the wish list for our playground. You can donate by clicking here. UPDATE: The gazebo is on order and will likely arrive in October!
Online Services: Our online services are posted each week on our website:www.StChristopherOlympia.org. They are also streamed to Vimeo and Facebook. Reminders are sent by text message (text WORSHIP to 360.810.3292 to join list), email, and via our new app. As we transition to in-person worship, our online worship options will continue. |
