Notes from the Bishop’s Council

• Tribal Land Acknowledgement: We reviewed a draft of St. Christopher’s Tribal Land Acknowledgement.
• Membership Bylaws: Discussion of the Membership Bylaws continues as we examine our role as a united church following both Episcopal and ELCA guidelines. While these denominations are in full communion with each other, there are some aspects of the denominational guidelines that we want to explore. A hoped-for outcome is to create a structure of belonging that underlies the congregation’s formation process which will improve leadership, support spiritual development, and empower Christian ministry by all our members.
• Treasurer’s report: The church’s finances are in good standing. We are thankful for recent large donations that have covered much of the cost of our facility upgrades. As a follow-up to our action last month to retain $25,000 in checking for unanticipated building expenses, we are considering retaining $5,000 in checking for a clergy and staff fund to meet unanticipated needs.
• Facilities & Maintenance: The sidewalk project and septic system maintenance are completed.
