2022 Thurston Hunger Walk
The 2022 Thurston Hunger Walk will occur at 3 pm sharp on Sunday May 1st at the track at Saint Martin’s University (Please note the new location.) Participants will be encouraged to walk as much or as little as they like. Besides enjoying relatively Covid- safe outdoor camaraderie and some fun live music, the Walk will be raising much needed funds to help The Thurston County Food Bank and The Community Kitchen keep our hungry neighbors fed. (Aside:This year South Sound Senior Services decided to hold their own fund raiser separate from the walk.)
Last year the THW overall goal was $60,000; which was met. This year the organizers are shooting for a whopping $65,000! From conversations I had with people from your church last year I know you are already doing much for the poor among us. Still, we’re inviting your congregation to help make the Thurston Hunger Walk community wide, hunger reduction effort yet another big success.

Our 2022 web page (www.thurstonhungerwalk.com) is already up and running. Please consider asking our founder, Robert Lovitt, to add a designated team donation button to the website specifically for people from your church. Robert can be reached on his land line phone at 360-357-2825 or via email at lovitthere@comcast.net.
Even better yet, how about organizing a team of actual walkers from your church to attend the event? It might be a fun spring activity for a youth or young adult group. There should be plenty of parking at St. Martins. Groups can register when they arrive. Should another uptick of Covid-19 potentially threaten the health/safety of the walkers, cancellation information will be posted on the THW Facebook page and on the website. I suggest checking the sources a few days before coming.
Soon I will be forwarding a video email attachment about the two non-profit THW recipient agencies and why supporting them is so important. I hope you’ll share this video with your congregation during a live or digital service.
Thank you for your time and your generosity.
Respectfully yours,
Judy Mason
