Flooding Across Western Washington: Impact and Donations Dear Friends across the Diocese, I am certain you have been very much aware of the catastrophic flooding happening here in Western Washington. I have been in contact with Episcopal Relief and Development (ERD) who is eager to assist needs that may emerge in our Diocese. First, know that my prayers are with those who’ve been impacted, and I encourage you to offer your own prayers as well. Second, we have developed a form in conjunction with ERD to assess the need for assistance. If you, your congregation, or others in your community have been impacted, please fill out this form. You can find it here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSek7ey9V-htL_d1sdDtmD68mFUoCLHw88-MtnB97UW379GpkQ/viewform?usp=dialog Additionally, we are able to take financial donations given to our diocese that can go to immediately help in the communities impacted. All funds raised will go directly back out. To donate by credit card, please click here to use the Give form on the Diocesan website. Please select “Other Donation” under Giving Options and then type “flood relief” in the Designation Specification box. This will ensure your donation is allocated to flood relief. You can also donate by check. Please make check payable to “Diocese of Olympia” and send to Diocese of Olympia Attn: Flood Relief 1551 10th Ave E Seattle, WA 98102 Finally, in speaking with others who have been through disaster relief before, please do not send clothing, household goods, or other items. Financial donations are key which allow those impacted to purchase what they need, and so that they might have some agency in this. Gracious God, we pray for all impacted in Western Washington by the recent flooding. Grant them encouragement, strength, fortitude, patience and insight as they struggle with their many losses — material, physical, emotional, and personal — and begin to pick up the pieces and create a new future for themselves, their families, and their community. Be for them a beacon of unwavering hope and confidence that there can and will be a better day. Surround them with your love and the care and compassion of others that they might be sustained in this time of difficulty. We ask this in the name of your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, now and forever. Amen. Faithfully, |
