Celebrating God’s Love for All Creation
As we look ahead to Holy Week, the Triduum, and Eastertide, God’s promise of New Creation for us and indeed the whole cosmos is an invitation into transformative discipleship in these times. And, as April is Earth Month, we know our vocation to tend and keep the garden is really a lifelong call.
Follow the link below for a variety of resources for liturgy, formation, and advocacy to celebrate God’s gift of Creation and engage in taking seriously our responsibility for its care in every season.

Underhill House Lenten Invitation
This season of Lent, Underhill House invites you to incorporate times of quiet into your week. The spiritual writer Evelyn Underhill once wrote, “Without silence, the inward stillness in which God educates and molds us is impossible!” At Underhill House, we believe that taking time to pause for prayer, silence, and other forms of contemplation is an essential practice for faith formation – and, it doesn’t have to be done alone. We invite you to join a community of guests, Listeners, and partners who experience the nourishment that quiet brings.
To learn more, visit the link below, or visit our location at All Pilgrims Christian Church (one mile south of Saint Mark’s Cathedral) on Thursdays from 12:00 to 2:00 pm.

A Retreat with Jesus in Nature: Monastic Images of an
Earthy Christ
April 26, 9:30 am | St. Placid Priory, Lacey
Join Fr. Samuel Torvend (St. Paul’s Seattle) for this engaging retreat in which participants will explore the previously hidden story of monastic reflection on the presence of Jesus Christ with the creation. In this retreat, participants will consider the work of Benedict of Nursia, the Venerable Bede, Walafrid Strabo, and Hildegard of Bingen – Benedictines whose writings, music, and art reveal an earthy Christ, the center of our worship, prayer, and ethics.

Books Available from The Rev. Peter D. Snow
Jesus of Nazareth: Poking The Hornets’ Nest and Jesus of Nazareth: Kicking the Hornets’ Nest, by The Rev. Peter D. Snow, are now available on Amazon. These works represent a fresh approach to narrative theology—a term he has coined to describe his method of integrating modern biblical scholarship with the art of storytelling, allowing the Gospel narrative to unfold in new and thought-provoking ways and the characters to tell their own stories.

The Diocese of Olympia takes its responsibility for the safety of its people seriously. The Safe Church, Safe Communities training program is now online and teaches how to identify and prevent abuse within the church community. This training is required for all canonically resident and licensed clergy and for non-clergy who have a key to the church facility, including, but not limited to: vestry and bishop’s committee members; church staff; Eucharistic ministers/visitors; and anyone who works with minors in any capacity. Any other interested parishioners are encouraged to take this free training. Certification is valid for three years and then a renewal is required. Available Items from St. James, Sedro-Woolley
Saint James, Sedro-Woolley lost the use of their sanctuary in 2016 because of structural problems. That building was torn down but the altars – one from the main sanctuary and one from the children’s chapel were saved along with the church bell and all the stained-glass windows. Their stained-glass windows now grace the memorial garden at Saint Columba’s, Kent, but the two altars and the church bell have been in storage, awaiting a new home.
If your congregation is interested in providing a new home for these items, please let our Diocesan Property Manager, the Rev. Dr. Dennis S. Tierney know of your interest by writing to him at dtierney@ecww.org. Here are some candid photos to pique your interest. More detailed information can be provided upon show of interest.

The pews are solid oak, with kneelers, 34 inches tall, 22 inches deep, and 130 inches (almost 11 feet) long. Free, but you’ll need to move them. Please contact cwpratt@proton.me for more info.

Seeking Wonder, Love, & Praise Hymnal
The St. John’s, Olympia Music Director, Steve O’Connor, has requested 20 pew-edition copies of the Wonder, Love, & Praise hymnal. They are hoping to beg or borrow (permanently) extra, unused copies that might be knocking around somewhere, if at all possible. They would like to offset the cost and potential waste of ordering brand-new copies if there are a number of them not being used at another church. They are willing to pick them up in the Olympia/Tacoma/Federal Way/Puyallup/Gig Harbor etc. areas.
