Evensong or Sung Daily Evening Prayer is usually the last communal office (or prayer service) of the day. At this service we close out the day in song and psalmody, Scripture readings and canticles, thanking God for the blessings received during the daytime, and asking for protection throughout the night. We also commemorate the various Saints Days and Feast Days of the church year, recalling the witness of generations past. Incense is used at this service.
