Clergy Sabbath
Every week on Friday and is an *ALL DAY* event
Organizer: James Thibodeaux

“Remember to observe the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. You have six days each week for your ordinary work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath day of rest dedicated to the LORD your God. On that day no one in your household may do any work." - Exodus 20:8-11 New Living Translation

Our Clergy's work week is typically Sunday through Thursday. They remain on call throughout the week in instances of "urgencies" such as sudden hospitalization, extreme illness, tragedy, catastrophe and death. In such instances congregants are encouraged to contact clergy to set up an available time for prayer, visitation, and administration of the Sacraments.

Both the Synod and the Diocese, in congruence with Holy Scripture, require congregations to provide regular times of rest for their clergy. At St. Christopher's clergy take one day for Sabbath rest and one day for Family - namely Friday and Saturday. When these days are interrupted by congregational necessities, we encourage clergy to "make up" the time by setting aside a day to be off call and away from their duties.

With the exception of urgencies as noted above, we ask our community to kindly respect clergy and staff times for rest and family so that they may be fully attentive to their ministries during their scheduled work week.
