After the service, we will have an early celebration of Shrove Tuesday with the traditional feast of pancakes. Known variously as Shrove (absolution) Tuesday, Mardi Gras (Fat Tuesday), or Carnival (farewell to meat), it was a last chance for a feast of rich and sweet foods before Lent began.
