The Rev. James L. Thibodeaux, Pastor and Priest

James Palm Sun 2013 LRGFr. James came to St. Christopher’s in 2014. He is a native of Sonoma County, California, and grew up attending several Evangelical Christian churches. His theological education began at Westmont College. After graduating in 2000, he we confirmed in 2002 in the Episcopal Church. In 2006 Fr. James graduated United Lutheran Seminary, Philadelphia with a Master of Divinity and from General Theological Seminary (Episcopal) in 2007 with a Master of Sacred Theology in Anglican Studies. He has been serving as a priest in the Diocese of Olympia since 2008.

To St. Christopher’s, Fr. James brings a passion for engaging and beautiful worship; a love of Holy Scripture, history, and theology; and the Spirit’s ministry emphasizing God’s deep love and grace through Christ Jesus. He lives in the Steamboat Community with his wife Annaka and their two children.

 

The Rev. Barb Weza, Deacon

Deacon Barb was ordained to the Deaconate in October 2018. Prior to coming to St. Christopher’s as an intern and now as our Deacon, Barb served in a variety of lay ministries at her home parish of St. David of Wales, Shelton, WA. Since Episcopal deacons serve in a non-stipendiary capacity, Dcn. Barb also works as a social worker and director of Community Lifeline Services, Shelton.  As a deacon, Barb leads St. Christopher’s in putting the Gospel into action, in bringing society’s cares and issues to our attention for prayer and intervention, and in proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus by word and example. Barb does this with a quiet and deep wisdom, a readiness to serve, and with the tremendous power of God’s love.

Deacon Barb lives in Shelton with her husband, Gary.

Jeff Sprengel, Music Director

Jeff Sprengel has been serving as Music Director at St. Christopher’s since 1987.  He is a native of Olympia and leads weekly worship from the organ and piano,  directs the church’s choir, coordinates guest musicians, assists in planning liturgies, and contributes to the publishing of our bulletins.

Jeff has a green thumb and knows quite a bit about fruit trees and various plants. In addition, he’s been known to pull out an accordion from time to time!  
 
  

The Bishop’s Council, our governing board

The Bishop’s Council works with the pastor/priest and other church staff to accomplish the shared mission and ministry of the congregation. The Council proposes the budget, monitors finances, establishes policy, and assists other ministries of the congregation by removing barriers for growth and development . Each member serves a term of three years and is committed to the mission of the congregation, faithfully attends monthly Bishop’s Council meetings, and is an active member of the community in good standing. Official members of St. Christopher’s are eligible to serve.
